The Sporting Alliance is a Business Dinner Club run by sporting hospitality specialists Sporting Spectrum Ltd. The Alliance was set up in 2006 and provides local businesses across the South West of England with an opportunity to entertain guests and staff at a series of events throughout the year with some well known celebrity sporting speakers. Due to the popularity of these events in the Taunton area a Sporting Alliance Membership has been introduced and events are now regularly at capacity (just under 200 people). Attendance is prioritised to Members and their guests with sales to non-Members only taking place where spaces are available.
The evenings are hosted by Sporting Spectrum Ltd, namely Bryan and Caroline Enticott and Somerset County Cricketer Keith Parsons, in a professional but relaxed format. The evenings typically consist of a three course meal with coffee and mints prior to the Sporting Guest speaking. Four Dinners per year have traditionally been held in Taunton since 2006 with one-offs also being staged at Sandy Park in Exeter and Wincanton Racecourse.
A regular feature of the Dinners is the charity raffles and occasional sporting auctions run in aid of local charities and sporting clubs. Thanks to the generosity of the Alliance Members over £5,000 has been raised and donated to a variety of worthy causes. Just a handful of the many cheque presentations are shown below. Donations have been made to organisations such as: The Injured Jockeys Fund, The Devon Air Ambulance, The Tony Coles Trust (Youth Cricket), Taunton RFC and many more.
